Theme: The LORD scatters his servants to teach his people; live in the light if your inheritance

*From Exodus 28-29 we see that the LORD has already chosen Aaron and his sons to serve as priests before the incident with the golden calf. It is thus not correct to attribute the Levites' obedience in Exodus 32:28-29 with the reward of priestly service. Rather the obedience of the Levites can be seen as an example of the fruits of grace, their grateful response to the LORD having given them the privilege of serving him.
