Preacher:
Passage: Ezekiel 20
Service Type:

Theme: The LORD acts for the sake of his great name; he is God, submit to him

Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant for ever. It is a sign for ever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’ – Exodus 31:16-17

You shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; if a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the LORD. – Leviticus 18:5

Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard your fame will say, ‘It is because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to give to them that he has killed them in the wilderness.’ – Numbers 14:15-16

When you…have grown old in the land, if you act corruptly by…doing what is evil in the sight of the LORD your God, so as to provoke him to anger…you will soon utterly perish from the land…And the LORD will scatter you among the peoples…And there you will serve gods of wood and stone…When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the LORD your God and obey his voice. For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them. – Deuteronomy 4:25-31

“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but it is because the LORD loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. – Deuteronomy 7:6-8
