Did you notice what happened to the descendants of Anakim?
According to Joshua 11:22, the Anakim went to live in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod. The descendants of Anak son of Arba (Joshua 15:13) were related to the fabled Nephilim (Numbers 13:22,28,32-33; Genesis 6:4). They were very tall and strong men, giants against whom the Israelities seemed like grasshoppers. When the Israelite spies originally went into the land, they were very frightened by these men (Deuteronomy 1:28; 2:10,21; 9:2,3). A very famous Philistine known as ‘Goliath of Gath’ would later be killed by King David. Most probably this Goliath was a descendant of the Anakite remnant in Philistia (1 Samuel 17:4,8,23; 2 Samuel 21:16-22; 1 Chronicles 20:4-8).
