Elected by God to be holy

Preacher:

Passage: Deuteronomy 7:6-8; Ephesians 1:3-14; Acts 13:48, 18:9-11

Theme: God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless before him

The Bible is very clear that it is God's decision to choose to save a certain people from all nations. This election of God however is understood and explained in different ways. According to the Arminians, God's election depends on man's faith. God looks into the future, sees who will believe and on the basis of that foreseen faith, he chooses people to belong to him. The Reformed however understand that God's election is unconditional and ultimately rests on God's free decision. Election is not based on faith, faith rather is the fruit and proof of election.
