In defence of grace

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Deuteronomy 9:1-6; Ephesians 2:8; Romans 11:1-6
Service Type:

Theme: God is gracious, saving sinners for the glory of his name; praise and glorify him for your salvation

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound…The wonderful news of the gospel, that God saves us from his wrath by grace through faith and for the glory of his name continues to be challenged in each generation. Also in our day and age there are many voices that question this Biblical teaching, rejecting the idea that the LORD God is sovereign in the salvation of man. This is not something new, indeed throughout history there have always been people who try to explain God’s grace in a way that gives man a role (however small) in his salvation. The Canons of Dort were compiled to defend the doctrine of grace from those who would pervert it and change it. In this way the canons seek to ensure that God alone receives all honour and glory in his church.
